The launch of the emergency management project in the geographical range Balti-Iași
The Ministry of Internal Affairs today launched the cross-border project between the Republic of Moldova and Romania “Effective joint response in cross-border emergency situations”.
The project is implemented by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco, the head of the IGSU participated in the launch event , Alexandru Oprea, the steering committee, the project implementation team, the beneficiaries of the project from the emergency services of the Republic of Moldova and Romania and the leaders of the local public administration in the north of the country.
The main objective of the project is to increase the safety and protection of the population, by building and equipping 2 dispatch centers with information technologies and communications, in the municipality of Balti and in the municipality of Iași, according to European standards.

The dispatch offices, in cases of cross-border emergencies, will cooperate, ensuring more effective communication and contributing to the development of informed management ional between structures, as well as liquidating their consequences promptly and efficiently.
The dispatcher from Balti municipality will serve 11 districts in the north of the country, and the one from Romania will serve the area belonging to the municipality of Iași. “We hope that this project will increase the ability to defend and intervene in emergencies and disasters not only when they have occurred, but also at the prevention stage. This project strengthens the vital relationship between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, now even more clearly defined and dimensioned between 2 cities – Iași and Bălți, which will be interconnected for the good, safety and security of the citizens of our countries”, declared the minister of internal affairs. The cross-border project “Effective joint response in cross-border emergency situations” is financed from European funds, within the Joint Operational Program Romania-Republic of Moldova 2014-2020, being estimated at 2.6 million euros. The actions within the program are to be implemented until 2023.
The employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the MAI seconded in Romania to support the medical system in the fight against COVID 19, were just the beginning of a vital collaboration that the institutions are carrying out from the security systems of the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The effective coordination of humanitarian and economic crisis management actions in the context of the war in Ukraine demonstrates how important mutual support is, in conditions of risk, for the security of the citizens of both countries.
